"Loopwheels of the Sliding Door Broken? Here's How to Fix It!"

A sliding patio door is a beautiful addition to your home, but what if it suddenly doesn't slide smoothly anymore or even collapses? This could indicate a defect in the rollers of the sliding door. But don't worry, in this blog we will explain how to recognize and solve this problem!

How do you recognize worn-out running wheels?

When the sliding door moves difficultly or hangs crookedly, there is a good chance that the transmission of the roller is broken. In the photo above, you can see the difference between a new and a worn-out roller carriage. In the worn-out example, the bridging component is broken, causing the lifting system to no longer function. As a result, the sliding door can no longer move smoothly and may even collapse downwards.

Replacing loop wheels: the solution

To ensure that the lift sliding door functions properly again, the worn rollers need to be replaced. Depending on the rebate height (the groove at the bottom of the door where the rollers are mounted), you choose roller types 937 or 934.

How do you replace the sliding door wheels?

Follow these simple steps to get the sliding door running smoothly again:

  1. Dismantle the old wheels: First remove the screws and carefully pry the GU sliding door wheels out of the lift sliding door.

  2. Place the new trolleys: Make sure to choose the right running cart and assemble it in the groove.

  3. Check time: check if both sets of wheels are set to the same and correct time. In the photo collage at the bottom, you can see how a pushcart should be positioned on time; if this little lever is already out, no problem, just slide the pushcart so that it is in the position where the lever should have been.

  4. Confirm and test the sliding door: Screw the new wheels tight and attach the locking mechanism to the wheels. Check beforehand by opening and closing the lever once.

  5.  Place the chick back and test if everything works.

With these simple steps, you ensure that your lift-and-slide door functions like new again! Does your sliding door also need maintenance? Don't wait too long and replace the worn parts on time.
